About Us

RubyDooCards was created by Louise Skeates and her family to notify the birth of her second child. A distinct lack of original, beautiful and value for money birth announcement cards helped to turn her frustration into making something personally.

Family and friends were very positive over the cards they started to receive for birthdays and Christmas. This passion was turned into producing original and beautiful handmade cards. Cards were initially made for friends, family and work colleagues for birthdays, Christmas and other special occasions that the business developed to offer exclusive designs through the RubyDooCards website.

Since then the business has grown rapidly, we now have high volume of sales orders coming through, we attend regular craft fayres, even branching out into the world of Wedding Stationery and Civil Ceremonies. It was one of the best moves I've ever made and now the challenge is on to continue with inspiring customers with new designs and products so that you keep coming back!

Why the name RubyDooCards I hear you ask?! We were looking for a unique name, something that was so different. yet memorable to our card designs. Our son came up with the name Rubydoo - after his pony Rhubarb. His nickname was Rubydoo.... and now here we are!

The culprit - Rhubarb himself!

Our Cards

Each RubyDoocard is handmade by Louise and the rubydoocards team in Chippenham, England. Handmade to us, is literally that - handmade. No mechanical processes, volume sales - indvidual designs for that personal message for all occasions.

Each design is individually created using a variety of materials, colours, shapes and textures to produce beautiful and stylish cards.

The card / board is high quality and can be plain, textured, pearlised or embossed in a variety of colours. Our standard selection of cards range from:

• Square - 13.5cm x 13.5 cm ((5¼” X 5¼”)
• Square (small) - 12cm x 12cm (4½" x 4½")
• Tall - 10.5cm x 21cm (4" x 8¼")
• Tall (thin) - 8cm x 20cm (3½" x 7¾")
• many more sizes available including various aperture, concentina, miniture and shaped cards all detailed on the website.

A vast array of techniques are used in the creation of our cards, including Glass Painting, Decoupage, Fimo Modelling, Quilling, Stencilling, Embossing, Watercolour Paintings, Tea-Bag Folding, Wire and Metal work and Iris Folding

A variety of decorative materials are used, including vellum and specialised papers, patterned fabrics, colourful ribbons and trimmings, ceramic, clay, buttons, pressed flowers, beads, hand engraved wording on either gold, silver, bronze or pewter metal sheets and other accessories coordinated to produce inspiring designs. The card and envelope are then packaged in a clear cellophane polybag and we include a stiff piece of card to protect the product if it is being sent by post.

Due to each individual card being handmade, colours and designs may vary slightly from those shown on the website. Whilst every effort is made to keep them consistent this is not always possible. If the variation is greater than the image shown, we will contact you first to advise you before you make any decision to continue with the order.

It is also recommended that you keep away from babies and children under 36 months due to the small components used on the cards.
